Research & Development

Radon Gas - Underground Locating
Mine fire detection and location using above ground radon gas readings. USF has started working with a world renowned professor in determining the location of coal mine fires underground - all without the need to drill bore holes. This will prove especially useful for abandoned coal mine fires. We will also look to perform testing at NIOSH using this cutting edge technology.

Testing the Hellfighter @ NIOSH

Lake Lynn Laboratories 2003 - NIOSH
We took the Hellfighter system to the Lake Lynn Laboratory for testing by NIOSH officials. Our system after some initial adjusting was simply amazing in both the time it took to cool a smoldering gob and efficiency in which it filled the mine shaft.

We were called to this event to make sure this mine fire was both contained and extinguished.

Buchanan - Oakwood, VA - 2005
This was a large mine fire in a coal seam that produced large amount of methane gas.

Excel 3 - Pikeville, KY - 2004
We were able to successfully contain and help extinguish this mine fire in approximately 72 hours.

Skyline Mine #3 - Schofield, UT - 2001
Our system was able to put out the coal mine fire in approximately 24 hours after it was started.
